Meet the Founder & Lead Practitioner
I'm a creative educator with 11 years experience working with children and young people and the founder of the Social and Emotional Skills Academy. I hold a MSc in Psychology and also a certified PEERS® Provider, a social skill intervention program. I'm committed to helping children and their families develop crucial social skills and self-confidence. I have experience working with children and young people with a wide range of diagnoses, including Autism, ADHD, and developmental or processing delays.
As a recovering socially awkward person myself, who has experienced first hand how social skill challenges can impact a Child growing up, I use my lived experience of feeling isolated and left out, and the knowledge and training I have gained over the years, to help children and young people have a sense of belonging and develop social skills that will enable them thrive.
I noticed a trend in social skill challenges in the children and young people I worked with as a Youth worker in the community, as well as my own children. With little to no programs available to help, I trained to be able to help plug this skill gap. The difference in my Children and those I work with using these evidence backed, ecologically valid skill coaching have been profound. From this, was this Academy built, when there wasn't anything readily available.
I would like to see no child feeling left out, struggling with friendships, just because of social skills challenges. Social skills, like any other skill can be learnt.
Social skills training helps all children, including those who are neurodivergent and or simply those who simply need extra support to navigate friendships, fit in at school, or build social confidence.
Why families contact us
Many families reach out not because of a diagnosis but because their child needs:
• More chances to connect with peers
• Less screen time and more meaningful face-to-face interaction
• Professional guidance on practical social strategies
• A welcoming space to feel accepted and grow in confidence
So if your child needs help to make and keep friends and gain social skills and confidence - you're definitely in the right place!
I know how painful it is to watch your child struggle with friendships and feel unsure how to help — it’s truly heart breaking for everyone involved. As a parent that worry is real, and it’s often hard to find effective support programs to turn to to help them.
The good news is social skills can be taught and learned, and when our children add these skills to their toolkit, it changes everything.
I honour each young person’s individuality and use a strengths‑based, adolescent‑centred approach in our small groups. Sessions are warm, respectful, relaxed, and inclusive. I bring experience, evidence‑based practice, and genuine care to every meeting — and we have FUN while learning.
I’d be honoured along with our team, to support your child to grow into the confident, capable person they already are, with extra social tools they can choose to use throughout life.
